Complete Sensor Support

Total Visibility Across All Zones

Integrate specialized monitors and emergency controls into one centralized ecosystem.

  • Precision CO2 Monitoring: The MBS-K30 sensor utilizes NDIR technology in a self-aspirated enclosure to constantly measure CO2 levels from 0 to 30,000 ppm.

  • Audio-Visual Alarms: Trigger AS-series audio-visual alarms (AS-1, AS-2, AS-3, AS-4, AS-5) featuring multiple LED strobe colors (red, amber, blue) to meet varying municipal visual code requirements. Alarms can be mounted both inside and outside the grow room.

  • Master Alarm Capability: Create a “master” alarm setup where if ANY monitored room exceeds safe CO2 levels, the master alarm and central CO2 shut-off are instantly activated

Safety & Compliance

The Carbon-X system provides critical monitoring of CO2 levels for up to 13 separate zones simultaneously, ensuring you meet strict municipal codes for purposefully enriched areas.

Emergency Shut-Off

If unsafe CO2 levels are detected, the system will automatically shut off the flow of compressed CO2 gas by de-energizing the main CO2 solenoid through the DSE-1 Emergency Stop Station.

Ventilation & Exhaust

When high CO2 levels trigger an alarm, the system can automatically activate exhaust fans and dampers using the DSC-1 device module to safely ventilate the affected area.

Fire Department Integration

Using the DSD-1 Dry-Contact station, the Carbon-X can seamlessly interface with your building’s central fire alarm panel, coordinating alarm systems and even sending an emergency call to the local fire department.

AL1 /AL2 Line

The MBS-K30 CO2 sensor, designed for the Carbon-X CO2 Alarm System, monitors CO2 up to 30,000 ppm using NDIR technology. Mounted 12-18 inches from the floor, it displays current ppm on its LCD or a CDA-1 controller. The Carbon-X system supports one or two MBS-K30 sensors per zone across up to 13 zones. If CO2 exceeds a user-defined threshold, the CDA-1 controller initiates safety measures: audible/visible alarms (AS-1 to AS-5), CO2 supply shut-off (DSE-1), ventilation fan activation (DSC-1), and interface with building alarms (DSD-1), ensuring CO2 levels remain below 5000ppm to comply with regulations.

Device Line

The Carbon-X CO2 Alarm System includes AS-1 through AS-5 audible-visual alarm modules, which monitor and alert to unsafe CO2 levels. These stations, mountable inside or outside, provide audible and visible alarms when CO2 exceeds set limits. AS-2, AS-3, and AS-4 models have LCD displays and color-coded LEDs (AS-2: green/yellow/blinking red; AS-3: amber; AS-4: blue), while AS-1 and AS-5 feature a red strobe light. They connect to AL-1 or AL-2 CO2 sensor channels (or both) via an SPH-1 powered splitter hub and RJ12 cables, requiring addressing after connection. Alarm siren sound pressure levels are 85dB for AS-1/AS-5 and 100dB for AS-2/AS-3/AS-4.

Device Line

The Carbon-X CO2 Alarm System uses several modules for CO2 monitoring and safety. The DSE-1 CO2 Emergency Stop Station automatically cuts off CO2 supply if faults, high CO2, or communication loss are detected. The DSC-1 CO2 Device Station activates ventilation or supplemental CO2 devices for high CO2 or faults. The DSD-1 Dry Contact Station interfaces with building alarms or fire panels via dry contacts. The OM-8 Dry Contact Board controls various devices with multiple dry contact relays. The DCC-2 Dual System Control Adapter allows single modules (like DSC-1 or DSD-1) to work with both Hydro-X and Carbon-X controllers, with an interlock function for combined or independent operation.

      FAQ

What is the Carbon-X (CDA-1) system?

The Carbon-X system is designed to protect customers and workers near commercial indoor growing areas that use supplemental CO2, satisfying local and state regulations. It is a life-safety CO2 system that constantly measures CO2 levels and safely alerts personnel to dangerously high levels.

How many zones can the Carbon-X system monitor?

The system provides critical monitoring of CO2 levels for up to 13 separate zones or rooms.

What actions does the Carbon-X system take if unsafe CO2 levels are detected?

If high CO2 levels are detected, the system can automatically shut down the CO2 flow by de-energizing the main solenoid. It can also vent the area by activating exhaust fans or dampers, trigger audio-visual alarm stations, and send an emergency signal to a fire alarm panel.

What CO2 sensor is used with the system, and where should it be installed?

The system uses the MBS-K30 CO2 sensor, which features NDIR technology to precisely measure CO2 levels up to 30,000 ppm. Each monitored room needs at least one sensor installed, and it must be mounted between 12 and 18 inches from the floor level.

How are sensors and device stations connected to the main controller?

Sensors and device stations are "daisy-chained" together using standard "straight-through" RJ12 cables and splitters. Most sensors and alarm stations must be connected to a powered splitter hub (SPH-1) before being connected to the main system. It is highly important to use straight-through cables, as improper reverse cable configurations will permanently damage the units.

How many devices and sensors can the Carbon-X control?

The system can control up to 40 device stations in total. Additionally, it can support a maximum of 13 sensors per alarm channel.

Can I monitor the Carbon-X system remotely?

Yes, you can use TrolMaster’s free smartphone app for remote monitoring, adjusting settings, and receiving push alert notifications. To link the controller to the app, the CDA-1 must be connected directly to your internet router using a CAT 5/6 cable.

What are the high and low-level CO2 alarm thresholds?

The system features two user-adjustable alarm levels to meet different local regulations. The low-level Alarm-1 limit ranges from 3,000 to 15,000 PPM, while the high-level Alarm-2 limit ranges from 15,000 to 30,000 PPM.
